Skills North West

Trafford’s Children and Young People’s Service will have a significant presence at this year’s free Skills North West event being held at Event City near The Trafford Centre on 28 February (9.30am-3pm and 5pm to 7pm) and 29 February (9.30am to 3pm)

Hosted in Trafford for the first time, the Prospects organised event is aimed at all the north west’s school, sixth form and college leavers.

Over 100 organisations will be providing interactive features to give those attending a real taste of the different career options available to them, whatever their dreams or ambitions.

With thousands of young people being brought to the event, Trafford’s Connexions Service will be staffing an information, advice and guidance stand during the event, with support from other Greater Manchester Connexions services.

Over the two days there will be the opportunity for young people to find out about jobs, training and apprenticeships, speak to Colleges, Universities and even gain some hands on experience of specific job skills.

A new twilight session has been added on Tuesday 28 (5pm to 7pm) so young people have the opportunity to attend with their parents or carers, allowing the whole family to find out about the fantastic range of opportunities available.

Executive Councillor Christine Turner said she was pleased to see this major skills event being hosted in Trafford.

“It is without question that Trafford’s school, sixth form and college leavers achieve some of the country’s best examination results. However, it is important that both locally and across the north west, our young people receive the best possible advice and support.

This event is sure to inspire and motivate everyone attending and I would urge all 15-24 year-olds to book their place and find out just what the future could hold for them.”

Places at this event are free and young people aged 15-24 and their parents and carers can just turn up on the day or can book online at www.skillsnw.co.uk.
